A atividade fisiológica das sementes inicia-se pela absorção de água, da qual resulta na reidratação dos tecidos e desencadeamento dos eventos metabólicos da germinação. Neste contexto, o presente estudo teve como objetivo verificar a influência da qualidade fisiológica e da umidade inicial nas taxas de absorção de água de sementes de jacarandá-da-bahia (Dalbergia nigra). Foram utilizadas sementes colhidas em matrizes de duas procedências, as quais constituíram os lotes I e II. Estas foram colocadas para hidratar em água, em dessecadores com umidades relativas entre 95-99%, nas temperaturas de 15 oC e 25 oC, até atingirem aproximadamente quatro níveis de hidratação: 10%, 15%, 20% e 25% de umidade nas sementes. Detection, transmission and pathogenicity of fungi on Blepharocalyx salicifolius (H.B.K.) Berg. seeds Rev. bras. sementes

The objective of this study was to identify the fungi associated with the fruit and seeds of Blepharocalyx salicifolius and verify their transmission and pathogenicity to seeds and seedlings. Fungal identification on seeds was made using the blotter test and potato-dextrose-agar but only the blotter test was used for fruit. Fungal transmission to seedlings was evaluated using four replications of 50 seeds planted in vermiculite. The pathogenicity of the fungi, Colletotrichum sp., Curvularia sp., Cladosporium sp. Diptychandra aurantiaca is a tree belonging to the Fabaceae family. The wood of this tree is moderately heavy and resistant, and it is used to make posts, wooden sleepers and building, among other structures. The aim of this work was to evaluate seed germination and the initial growth of the primary roots in D. aurantiaca at different temperatures using seeds collected in the village of Taboco in Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. The seeds were subjected to constant temperatures of 20, 25, 30 and 35°C and alternating temperatures of 20-30 and 25-35°C using four replications of 25 seeds per treatment in a germination chamber. Germination of guatambu seeds subjected to two light regimes PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

Guatambu (Aspidosperma parvifolium A. DC.) is a species that faces extinction in different regions of Brazil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of photoperiod on germination of guatambu seeds at 25°C. The statistical procedure used was factorial design with two factors. Factor A was seed lots (Mother tree A, B, and C) and factor B was photoperiod (dark and 12 h of photoperiod). Guatambu seeds are not affected by photoperiod condition during the germination process.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the tolerance of C. leprosum seedlings to salt stress during the emergence and early seedling development. Tabebuia serratifolia is used for the reforestation of degraded areas. Despite protection by law for permanent preservation, the species is in danger of extinction due to improper exploitation. With the objective to aid preservation and long term storage of the species we evaluated morphophysiological alterations of T. serratifolia seeds during the maturation process in order to identify markers that can be used for harvesting and storage. The objective of this study is to characterize two lots of Luehea divaricate seeds, as its physiological and sanitary quality. Seeds were collected in the municipalities of Santa Maria (SM) and Restinga Seca (RES), located inthe central region of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. Germination tests and fungi transmission were conducted in commercial substrate Carolina Soil®. Direct seeding is one of the most promising methods in restoration ecology, but low field seedling emergence from pioneer tree seeds still reduces its large scale applicability. The aim of this research was to evaluate seed priming for the pioneer tree species Guazuma ulmifolia. Priming treatments were selected based on seed hydration curves in water and in PEG 8000 solution. Seeds were primed in water for 16 h and in Polyethylene glycol - PEG 8000 (-0.8 MPa for 56 and 88 h) at 20ºC to reach approximately 30% water content. The Grevillea robusta A. Cunn is utilized for coffee plantation shading, crops growing and pasture shading, apiculture, ornamentation and wind breaks. It is also used to produce sawn wood. One test of 28 second generation half-sib progenies was planted in Forestry Institute of São Paulo, with 20°03’S latitude and 48°54’W logitude geographic coordenates and 630m of altitude.
